Nelson MTB Club CX #4
Cyclocross racing in Nelson, on New Zealand’s South Island.
From the website of organisers Nelson Mountain Bike Club:
NMTBC’s CX Series is focused on fun and friendly competition. We encourage new riders to CX racing through this series.
Similar to XC, Cyclocross (CX) sees riders completing laps of a mixed terrain/obstacle course. There is a time limit usually between 40 minutes to an hour, and the person to complete the most laps in that time is the winner! Obstacles can include trails, roads, paddocks, fences, trees, horse jumps, steps, whatever else the organiser can think of! And yes, you must take your bike with you through and over all of these things! Fancy dress is often donned, and kids races are commonly a part of the Nelson CX scene.

What is Dunedin Cyclocross you ask?
This is a social/fun family event... where you ride your bicycle in a 2-3km loop as fast or slow as you want for an hour. Throughout this loop you may encounter hurdles, water balloons, obstacles, swings, velociraptors, coffee, mud (LOTS of mud!!!) and just
complete organised chaos! Can’t wait to slide in the mud with you all Ōtepoti!
See you there!
